However, fabric storage boxes are a lot more flexible, and most are collapsible when empty. This saves on space when the container is not in use.
Size
The size of your ornament storage box is another aspect you’ll want to keep in mind. The bigger the box, the more ornaments you’ll be able to store in.
That also means you won’t need to use as many boxes, which makes locating your decorations a lot easier.
RECOMMENDATION

Before I labelled my storage boxes, I’d spend the good part of an hour rummaging through each plastic container trying to find Christmas lights, ribbons, or a specific decoration.

Moisture and light are two things you need to avoid when storing antique Christmas ornaments.
You may find light will fade the original color of the decoration, while moisture/humidity will damage the material.
Don’t store antique Christmas ornaments in the attic or basement as these two locations typically have extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
Better and safer areas for ornament plastic storage include a closet or under a bed.
How Do You Store Odd-shaped Ornaments?
Christmas ornaments that are of an odd or unusual shape can be a bit hard to store, especially if they have fragile pointy edges that could break off if not well protected.
Although a storage bin with dividers can offer security to most decorations, ones of a strange shape might be hard to fit inside.
It’s best to wrap odd-shaped Christmas ornaments in a layer of tissue paper alongside a layer of bubble wrap to keep them safe in storage for the next year or so.
How Do You Keep Ornament Hooks from Tangling?
Ornament hooks have a tendency to get tangled during storage, which can be pretty frustrating when you need to use them.
The way I keep my Christmas ornament hooks to prevent them from tangling is on pencils with rubber bands.
Tie the rubber bands on each side of the pencil to stop your ornament hooks from tangling or sliding off.
