When you have friends or family over to enjoy some outdoor time, distractions can really ruin your fun.
It might be a pesky neighbor blaring loud music, construction work on a street nearby, or even the left arm on a brittle plastic chair finally giving way with one of your guests on it!
Now, that might be a rather funny situation in hindsight, but in the immediate moment it can really put a dampener on your day.
But first here is a quick look at the top three best sectionals from the list…
With one chair down, you might have to bring out a dining chair, stool, or resort to a makeshift chair so your guest has somewhere to sit that isn’t the cold ground!
However, you could spare having to get out the ‘spare chair’ when guests come round with outdoor sectional outdoor furniture.
A sectional provides you and your guests with somewhere comfy and relaxing to sit, as well as maximize seating space so you never have to resort to a makeshift chair again.
I’ve tried and tested a bunch of sectionals over the years – both my own and those of friends and family – so I know what sort of qualities and aspects make for a great unit.
With that in mind, I’ll be taking a look at the best outdoor sectionals so you can find the right one for you without giving your right arm for a set.
Best Outdoor Sectional Furniture – Reviews!
A colorful and stylish set for any backyard or patio. It’s exceptionally well made and can fit a small group of guests.
Featuring a turquoise and black design, Do4U’s outdoor sectional is a colorful and stylish set for any backyard or patio.
It’s one of my favorite sectional sets due to its stunning design and comfiness.
The sectional has a steel frame, making it incredibly sturdy and robust, while the rest of the unit is constructed out of PE rattan.
You get 2 corner actions, 4 middle sections, 6 seat cushions, 8 back cushions, 2 red pillows, and a coffee table with the package.
That’s plenty of seating space to fit a small group of guests! There are even sofa clips that you attach to the modules to prevent them from sliding around, which is a really nifty extra.
One of the main reasons why I like this sectional outdoor set is its coziness.
The cushions are very comfortable as they are filled with 4-inch thick sponge, providing you and your guests with ultimate relaxation.
Another great feature is that the cushions keep their shape and don’t collapse after use, which is a mark of high quality.
It was difficult to find flaws with this outdoor furniture sectional as it’s exceptionally well-made, but there were a couple of minor negatives.
Firstly, the unit can be a bit time-consuming to assemble. And secondly, despite being water-resistant, it isn’t completely waterproof.
- Dimensions: 112.6” x 56.3” x 25.2”
- Material: Steel Frame and PE Rattan
- Color: Turquoise and Black
- Sleek and colorful style
- Comfortable cushions
- Robust and sturdy design
- Time-consuming to put together
- Not 100% waterproof
An outdoor sectional set oozes attractiveness and coziness. It can accommodate a variety of backyard shapes and sizes
Consisting of 7 pieces, the Walsunny outdoor sectional set oozes attractiveness and coziness.
It’s available in 3 color options: blue, navy blue, and red, all of which add vibrancy and charm to any backyard.
This patio sectional is constructed out of PE rattan wicker and synthetic resin with a steel frame, making it durable in all weather conditions.
It also gives the sectional a sleek, modern appeal that makes it look a lot more expensive than it actually is.
One of my favorite aspects about Walsunny’s outdoor sectionals is that they are very easy to assemble.
As someone who’s not the best at DIY, this is something I appreciate in a sectional.
This one should only take around 60 minutes to put together.
Another feature I really like about this sectional set is it can accommodate a variety of backyard shapes and sizes, as well as be repositioned to make many different configurations.
You could turn the set into a symmetrical shape, U shape, or even break it apart so you have multiple singular outdoor sectional sets to use all around your backyard!
The cushions are fade resistant and simple to clean.
All you need to do is unzip the covers and give them a quick wash (they’re machine washable, too!) to get your cushions looking sparkling new.
To top it all off, the sectional comes with a coffee table so your guests can enjoy some drinks and nibbles while they relax.
Not all sectionals come with a coffee table, so this is a nice bonus!
Despites its overwhelming number of positives, the Walsunny sectional sofa set doesn’t have the most comfortable cushions.
They’re a little hard and rigid, and the back pillows don’t provide a lot of support.
- Dimensions: 103.6” x 25.59” x 24.6”
- Weight: 169.4 lbs
- Material: PE Rattan
- Color: Black and Blue
- Gorgeous design
- Easy to assemble
- Includes a coffee table
- Durable and weather-resistant materials
- Cushions can be uncomfortable
Not as large as other outdoor sectionals, but it more than makes up for its small size in terms of presentation and quality
Although not as large as some of the other outdoor sectional sets I’ve looked at like Do4U’s 7-piece outdoor sectional sets, the COSIEST patio sectional set more than makes up for its small size in terms of presentation and quality.
Sporting a deep chocolate brown color with dark gray cushions, this patio set is made from sturdy powder-coated steel (that’s also resistant to rust) and all-weather synthetic PE resin. It does what their name aims to do, and boasts comfort due to its 4-inch thick, high-density foam seat cushions.
To make it even more cozy, the outdoor patio set comes with two turquoise pillows that complement the frame color beautifully.
Both the cushions and the pillows are covered in poly-fiber fabric that prevents them from fading in color prematurely, keeping them looking newer for longer!
The COSIEST outdoor sectional set is L shaped and compact, making it one of the best options for those with limited outdoor space but still need ample seating for guests.
It even comes with a glass top coffee table that can be tucked away neatly into the sofa cove for convenience.
Thanks to its detailed instructions and provided tool kit, this sectional sofa set isn’t too challenging to put together.
It should only take two people up to an hour and a half to fully assemble.
My only gripe with this sectional set is that the back cushions can get crumpled easily after long periods of use. Although this isn’t a huge issue, the cushions require a hefty amount of plumping to get back into shape, which definitely give your arms a good work out!
- Dimensions: 91” x 59” x 25”
- Material: Steel and PE Wicker
- Color: Chocolate Brown
- Sturdy frame
- Beautiful color and design
- Simple to assemble
- Back cushions can get crumpled with heavy use
An excellent addition to any indoor or outdoor space. It provides seating for 4 to 6 guests and comes with a glass top coffee table to hold food and drinks.
Next up is the U-MAX sectionals outdoor set, which is an excellent addition to any: garden, patio, garden, poolside, indoor, or outdoor space.
It provides seating for 4 to 6 guests and comes with a glass top coffee table to hold food and drinks.
Crafted from black resin wicker and powder coated steel, this sectional sofa set is both durable and long lasting. The cushions have UV protected covers to ensure they don’t fade in sunlight too!
U-MAX’s outdoor sectionals are available in two simple but attractive colors: black and tan, and brown and tan – Both would look phenomenal in any indoor or outdoor living quarters.
Footpad and Cushions
The outdoor sectional set comes with an adjustable foot pad that prevents the sofa from shaking or sliding around, which is a really handy feature. This helps keep the sofa in place even on uneven ground.
However, the cushions for this sectional set are not rainproof and can be a bit lumpy. Assembling the sectional sofa can also be frustrating and time-consuming as there are a lot of parts, and some components don’t fit together too well.
- Material: PE Rattan and Steel
- Color: Black and Tan
- Provides seating for 4 to 6 guests
- Sleek design
- Includes a foot pad to keep sectional sofa stable
- Cushions are not rainproof and can be lumpy
- Assembly can be frustrating
Offers comfort and relaxation for guests, as well as an elegant look to any outdoor space.
Capable of seating 5 to 6 people, Homall’s outdoor sectionals are a great pick for your backyard, patio, courtyard, or poolside.
They offer comfort and relaxation for guests, as well as an elegant look to any outdoor space.
The sectional sofas come in a rich brown and tan color, which is sure to complement any garden or patio style from a spacious outdoor deck to a small but intimate poolside.
They’re engineered using a steel frame and all-weather synthetic wicker that’s of a high quality.
In fact, it’s hard to tell the difference between it and real wicker!
With the sectional set, you get an attractive coffee table with a removable glass top which makes it simple to clean.
The seating cushions are also equipped with zippers so they can be washed with ease (they’re machine washable, too!).
I really like how straightforward this outdoor sectional sofa is to put together thanks to its detailed instructions.
However, the cushions for this outdoor seating sectional patio set can be a bit thin.
The back cushions have a tendency to move around as they don’t come with tools to keep them in place.
- Made from high-quality synthetic wicker that looks like the real deal
- Removable glass top on coffee table for easy cleaning
- Simple to assemble
- Cushions are thin and don’t keep in place
Crafted out of durable wicker that is tightly woven around a rust-resistant steel frame, ensuring its longevity and sturdiness
Another great outdoor patio sectional is this one from Best Choice Products, featuring 4 single chairs, 2 corner chairs, 1 table, cushions, 2 accent pillows, seat fastener clips, and a protective cover.
It’s available in a striking navy and dark gray finish – which is one of my favorite color combinations. The sectional is crafted out of a durable wicker that is tightly woven around a rust-resistant steel frame, ensuring its longevity and sturdiness.
Sectional furniture seat-fastener clips hold the chairs in position to prevent them from moving, allowing your guests to relax without being slid around all over the place!
One of the best aspects of this outdoor sectional sofa is it includes a protective cover made from a water-resistant coating.
It has adjustable hem cords and ergonomic handles, which reduces condensation and helps prevent wind lofting.
I also really like how soft and plush the cushions are. They’re heavily padded to make them very comfortable. They even have removable and machine-washable covers to make them easy to wipe down and clean.
Although this sectional sofa set has a lot of things going for it, it isn’t easy to assemble. The sectional can be a bit challenging to get set up, especially as you’ll need some extra tools like a socket wrench that aren’t included with the kit.
It’s also important to note that the sectional sofas are a bit on the small size, so they won’t be able to hold any more than 3 or 4 guests).
That said, it’s a good option if you live in an apartment or don’t have a huge patio.
- Dimensions: 111” x 55” x 25”
- Material: Steel and Wicker
- Color: Navy and Gray
- Beautiful design
- Sturdy and durable
- Comfortable cushions
- Includes a protective cover to reduce condensation and wind lofting
- Can be a bit difficult to set up
Colorful and weather-resistant construction. It has a steel frame and waterproof PE Rattan covers, making it lightweight and robust.
Last but not least on my list of best outdoor sectionals is the JETIME sectional, boasting colorful and weather-resistant construction.
It has a steel frame and waterproof PE Rattan covers, making it lightweight and robust.
Included in the kit are 2 middle sofas, 2 corner sofas, an ottoman, 6 seat cushions, 3 back cushions, 2 pillows, furniture clips. 2 seat lumbar pads, and instructions.
The sectional is available in a few attractive colors: royal blue and black, royal blue and brown, and navy blue and gray.
These designs are a little colorful, so if you prefer a more minimalist or subtler look to your backyard, then JETIME’s outdoor sectional sets might be a little too vibrant.
Despite being on the small side, this outdoor sectional is very comfortable and cozy.
It should provide seating for a few guests, so it’s a great choice if you live in an apartment or don’t require a large sectional.
The sectional isn’t too hard to put together as it comes with clear instructions.
Additionally, as it’s more compact than some of the other outdoor sectionals I’ve looked at, this means there’s less parts and modules to assemble.
The main downside of this outdoor sectional is its low height. This makes the seat cushions situate too close to the ground and cause some awkward sitting positions.
- Material: PE Rattan and Steel
- Color: Royal Blue and Black
- Lightweight and robust
- Compact – great for small yards!
- Lovely design
- Easy to put together
- Sectional is not very high
Why Choose a Sectional?
Compared to traditional outdoor seating, a sectional provides more space for guests.
Sectional sets can also be used to fill up a corner in your backyard, which is handy if you have a lot of empty space outdoors.
Outdoor sectionals can be broken up into smaller segments and easily moved around to create multiple seating areas.
This is perfect if you want to give guests their own individual chair or make a portion of your yard a bit more eye-catching and inviting.
What’s the Difference Compared to Indoor Furniture?
Indoor furniture is made from materials like fabric and wood (often sanded down) that would discolor or fall apart if used outdoors, particularly when exposed to rain, sunlight, and snow.
Outdoor sectional sets or patio furniture are designed to withstand all weather elements, preventing a set or seating from discoloring or disintegrating.
Made Out Of Durable Materials
For example, wooden outdoor sectional sets are made from strong and robust woods like teak.
This type of wood has tight grains and contains natural oils that strengthens its resistance against moisture, decay, and insects.
Indoor wooden furniture is often made from softwood like pine or spruce, which is then treated with a coating of varnish to help protect it from drink spillages.
Unless tanalized (pressure treated to withstand outdoor elements), softwood would perish quickly outside as it lacks the means to protect itself from damp or rot.
Important Things to Consider When Buying Outdoor Sectional Furniture
Stationary Sectional or Modular
Stationary seating set sectionals can’t be moved or taken apart to be put in different styles, shapes, or configurations.
They are one big unit, making them quite bulky as a result.
Modular sectionals, on the other hand, can be pulled around and moved.
You could put a couple of pieces in one sectional, and then the rest in a corner to fill up empty space.
If you want to fill an awkward space or create unique seating arrangements, modular sectionals are your best bet.
Outdoor sectional sets come in a wide range of shapes.
The right style set for you depends on your floor plan, preference, and your desired configuration of seating.
Some shapes like L shaped outdoor sectional sets can be a bit pricier than more compact sectional sets like chaise sectional sets, mostly because they offer more seating and modules.
The price of outdoor sectional sets is also linked to the quality of the unit and additional features or accessories like extra cushions or a coffee table.
L shaped outdoor sectional sets are a great choice for filling empty corners. Two sofas are attached to one another in this type of sectional, forming a right angle.
U shaped outdoor sectional sets are best used for areas that are large like a poolside or a deck patio as they make big spaces feel more cozy.
They provide a lot of seating and make an elegant, comfortable space for guests. The end pieces with arms on this style of sectional will face one another.
A chaise sectional patio set consists of a seat that extends on one side to create an ottoman. Its design allows guests to stretch out and relax.
The ottoman on a chaise might be attached or might be a separate unit.
Chaises are very elegant and sophisticated – you might actually recognize them from the “draw me like one of your French girls” scene in Titanic.
Sleeper sectionals have a living room style to them, so they’re perfect for both indoor and outdoor use.
They are typically U shaped or L shaped, and are one of the most multipurpose sectionals you can use.
And as their name suggests, sleeper outdoor sectional sets are a great place for a nap as they allow you to fully stretch out and relax.
Perfect for an afternoon doze after a fun day out in the sun!
LAF or RAF
If you don’t know what LAF or RAF means, then don’t worry!
LAF means left-arm-facing, whereas RAF means (yep, you guessed it!) right-arm-facing.
When you’re facing a LAF sectional, the arm is on the left. RAF means that the arm is on your right.
Bear in mind the placement of the arms when attaching modules together, and think about how the sectional set will look in a space.
A lot of outdoor sectional sets are lightweight and robust, but it’s still important to check the weight limit on the outdoor sectional set you want to buy.
For example, an ottoman attached to a chaise might not be able to hold as much weight as the sectional itself.
Most sectional sets manufacturers will state the weight limit in the product description.
However, if you can’t find it listed, don’t be afraid to ask the seller directly.
What’s the Best Material for Outdoor Furniture?
Outdoor furniture with a wrought iron or aluminum frame is typically the most durable.
Not only are sectionals created from either of these materials incredibly long lasting, they don’t require frequent maintenance like wooden patio furniture.
What Should I Do with My Outdoor Sectional Set During Snow or Rainy Season?
Outdoor sectionals made from teak or rattan can be left out all-year round, including winter.
Cushions designed for outdoor living are normally water-resistant, so they can also be left outside.
These cushions are known as being hydrophobic.
Patio sets constructed out of aluminum, plastic, or wrought iron can tolerate sunlight, snow, and rain as they don’t rust or rot.
Bear in mind that wooden outdoor patio furniture needs to be varnished and repainted regularly to prevent it from fading or deteriorating.
Here are the top three sectionals from the lineup…
After looking at a wide range of sectionals, I think the best outdoor sectional for a patio or backyard is the Do4U Patio Sofa 7-Piece Set Outdoor Sectional.
It’s a fantastic choice for any patio or backyard, boasting a stunning, comfortable, and high quality design.
The sectional provides you with a lot of space for a small group of guests, and even comes with a stylish side table so they can enjoy snacks and refreshments while they relax.
To ensure none of the modules slide around, the sectional includes furniture clips to keep everything in place.
The only minor issues with the outdoor sectional is that it’s a little frustrating to assemble, and the cushions are not fully waterproof.
If the Do4U outdoor sectional doesn’t seem like the right or best option for you, then two other great outdoor sectional sets are the Walsunny 7pcs Patio Outdoor Sectional and COSIEST 5-Piece Outdoor Patio Furniture.
Either one is a lovely addition to your outdoor space, though the former is a slightly more affordable selection. COSIEST’s outdoor sectionals are my personal favorite due to their stunning design, sturdiness, and easy assembly.
I hope that this little look into outdoor sectional seating has given you some inspiration, and answered any questions you may have had about your next sectional sets.
